ABSTRACT

Approximately three billion female sex workers are working willingly and unwillingly in India. Research has shown that female sex workers have to face stereotypes and violence from society. Due to this, they feel more depressed, yet they are not able to report everything to police personnel because of the unequal treatment because society considers them taboo. Keeping in mind, the present research aims to investigate the role of feelings of abuse and acceptance of self among female sex workers in India. A sample of 300 women (100- female sex workers, 100-working women, and 100- homemaker women) belonging to the age group of 25-40 was randomly selected from the women living in the Delhi NCR region on an availability basis. Composite Abuse Scale (Revised) Short Form and Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire were used to collect the data. After applying the Composite Abuse Scale (revised) and Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire, unconditional self-acceptance found a significant association with all dimensions of CAS among female sex workers. In this sense, working women are found higher on self-acceptance than the other two groups. Also, obtained results showed a significant difference in abuse among female sex workers, working women, and homemaker females, and all variables, female sex workers have found a significantly higher mean than homemakers and working women which stated that female sex workers are mentally, physically and sexually harassed daily which led to bad health consequences.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To understand the present situation of self-acceptance of elderly in nursing home and explore its influencing factors, so as to provide basis for improving self-acceptance level of elderly in nursing home. Methods:Totally 415 elderly people in 3 Medical and nursing homes in Fuyang city of Anhui province were selected by Self-Acceptance Scale, and influencing factors were analyzed. Results:The total score of Self-Acceptance Scale of the elderly in nursing home was (44.11±7.25) points, the score rate was 67.86% (44.11/65), in the middle level; the results of multiple linear stepwise regression showed that the relationship with children, hobbies, number of children, length of stay in nursing home, frequency of visits and age were the main influencing factors ( F value was 48.228, P<0.001). Conclusion:The self-acceptance of the elderly in nursing home is in the middle level. The nursing home or social should pay attention to the higher age group and the newly admitted elderly in nursing home, give such people timely psychological guidance, help them to plan their later life, cultivate their interests and hobbies through recreational activities, and take corresponding measures to harmonize their relationship with their children in order to improve their self-acceptance level and promote mental health.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the dynamic changes and correlation of self-acceptance and automatic thoughts in permanent colostomy patients. Methods There were 89 low position rectal cancer patients after Miles and permanent colostomy were recruited from the Department of Oncological Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong UniversityfromFebruary 2016 to October 2016. Self-acceptance Questionnaire and Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire were used to collect data in 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after colostomy. Results The self-acceptance scores were 33.64 ± 5.52, 33.24 ± 5.71, 34.56 ± 6.04 and 38.91 ± 6.33 respectively, which had significant differences (F=11.012, P<0.01). The automatic thoughts scores were 63.20 ± 16.78, 60.88 ± 16.53, 58.64 ± 15.87 and 55.32 ± 14.76 respectively, which had significant differences (F=3.462, P<0.05). The correlation between self-acceptance and automatic thoughts were-0.576--0.372, which were all significant (P<0.01). Conclusion There were negative correlations between self-acceptance and automatic thoughts in permanent colostomy patients within 1 year after operation. Health professionals should learn to identify patients′automatic thoughts accurately, lead off negative emotions, promote early self-acceptance and improve their quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of security,self-acceptance,self-concept,intemet addiction, anxiety, depression on the suicidal ideation of internet addiction patients. Methods The safety,self-acceptance,self-concept,internet addiction, anxiety and depression of 220 internet addiction patients were assessed using the corresponding scale tools.Suicidal ideation was used as the dependent variable, and each influencing factor was used as the independent variable.Correlation analysis, multiple stepwise regression analysis and path analysis were utilized to analyze the predisposing factors. Results The suicidal ideation (12.65 ±5.72) was positively correlated with internet addiction assessment (73.35± 15.83),depression self-evaluation (56.33± 13.75) and anxiety self-assessment (48.93± 17.20) (r=0.250,0.636,0.531,P< 0.01),while negatively correlated with security (50.26± 12.33),self-acceptance (38.29±7.15),and self-concept (56.47± 17.92) (r=-0.390,-0.297,-0.298,P< 0.01).Sequentially depression (β =0.571,P< 0.01),anxiety (β =0.173,P=0.003) were entered into the multiple regression equation.Path analysis based on the structural equation model showed that suicidal ideation had a direct effect with depression and anxiety, with effect values of 0.583 and 0.176.There were indirect effects of self-concept,self-acceptance,sense of security, and internet addiction assessment. The effect values were-0.137,-0.117,-0.281,and 0.034.The total effect of suicidal ideation and self-concept,self-acceptance,sense of security, internet addiction, depression self-assessment,and anxiety self-assessment were-0.137,-0.117,-0.281,0.034,0.583 and 0.176 respectively. Conclusions The influence of security,self-acceptance,and self-concept on suicidal ideation is produced through the mediating effects of depression and anxiety, and it has a negative predictive effect. There is no direct causal relationship between internet addiction and suicidal ideation.

ABSTRACT

1)The Human Communications course at Tottori University is composed of two elements: "experiential learning to raise awareness," which encourages students to reconsider human relationships in daily life and their own way of life, and "experience involving infants," which helps students to practice what they have learned through these intergenerational relations. In the present study, questionnaires were administered to students to examine the effectiveness of this course.
2)The survey results suggested that the Human Communications course facilitated the cultivation of self–concept in communication and of self–acceptance, particularly among students whose scores were less than the mean on the first day of the course.
3)Establishing a support system for interpersonal relationships and improving methods to assess the effects of the course are challenges for future work.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore effect of psychological intervention on negative automatic thoughts, self acceptance and social support for patients with type 2 diabetic cataract. Methods Patients with diagnosed type 2 diabetic cataract(n=105)were divided into the research group(56 cases)and the control group(49 cases). The centrol group received routine treatment. The research group was given psychological and behavioral intervention based on routine treatment. They underwent evaluation by negative automatic thoughts questionnaire (ATQ),self-acceptance questionnaire(SAQ)and social support rate scale(SSRS)before intervention and in the 2th and 6th weeks after intervention. The results were subsequendy analyzed. Results ATQ score of the research group in the 2th and 6th weeks were lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).ATQ score, total SAQ score, score of SA and SD factors, total SSRS score and score of objective support, subjective support and utilization of support were all lower than those before intervention from the 2th week in the research group. While these happened in the control group only in the 6th week(P<0.05).Total SAQ score and score of SA and SD factor were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Total SSRS score and score of objective support, subjective support and utilization of support were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Relative analysis showed total score of social support and its factors was negatively related with ATQ score, but was positively related with SAQ score and score of SA and SD factors(P<0.05).Conclusions Psychological and behavioral intervention could reduce the negative automatic thoughts, allevinte self acceptance and increase social support degree for patients with type 2 diabetic cataract.
